-: We were at Waldorf last year and everything was perfect. This year the hotel policy has changed and from a luxury place of rest it is slowly turning into a regular, but very expensive hotel.They've opened after a renovation, and the beachside looks great. The rooms have been freshened up as well apparently. But in our first room we faced a problem with hot water - taking a shower was only possible at a boiling hot or an arctic cold temp, there was no in-between. The vanity mirror light in the bathroom was not working either. After multiple complaints the engineer was sent to our room and he said that the the boiler on our floor had been turned off and on and it would take some time for the piping system to work. It didn't. The mirror wasn't fixed either, and we had to change the room. This time the problem with hot water was accompanied by a toilet, that partially peeled off the wall and was dangerous to sit on. In a luxury hotel!! It was fixed quickly though, but we were left unpleasantly surprised.The dinner policy has changed, too. Now there is no buffet, but a 240-aed voucher per person to eat in one of the restaurants on site. So not only you have to go through a daunting process of booking a table in advance (and not always successful, because the restaurant of your choice might be overbooked), but also face a very limited choice of foods, especially when you have, like in our case, specific dietary requirements. We made a request to reception and to Booking.com to refund the rest of our dinners, but for some reason it was rejected.I have big doubts we'll ever return to Waldorf again.
