Hosted in an 1929 stone building, New Helvetia Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Cyprus, ran by the 4th generation of owners and offers free WiFi, and on-site fitness facilities. It is located in Pano Platres, at the foot of the Troodos Mountains. Platres Athletic Center can be reached within a 5-minute drive. Trooditissa Monastery is a 10-minute drive away.
A 250-year-old pine tree growing through the roof is the centerpiece of the lobby, which also features an ancient brick fireplace. Guests can relax in the TV corner while enjoying a drink from the lounge bar. Certified Cypriot breakfast is served in the morning.
The rooms of the vintage-style New Helvetia Hotel have private bathrooms, and are equipped with radio and satellite TV. All rooms have a balcony looking out onto the pine trees.
The several outdoor activities of the Troodos Ski Resort can be easily reached by car. Free private parking is available at the New Helvetia Hotel. Limassol is 22 mi from the property while, Larnaca International Airport is 64 mi from the hotel.
+: The location and the hotel are very picturesque and is also ideal for solo travellers. Asked for a room at the top floor and the stuff were very polite and cooperative.
-: even though the room was clean, you can tell by the lack of renovation that everything was falling apart. Also, saw a cockroach in my room which was unexpected because it was very clean but probably came from the pipes.

+: I really loved the atmosphere in this hotel. It was opened in 1929 and has a lot of character. The location is fantastic for exploring the nearby hiking trails. My kids loved sleeping upstairs in the room under the sky light. We would definitely stay again if returning to the troodos region.
-: Perhaps provide a small fridge in the room.
