+: Fantastic little hotel right in the main area of Agios Nikolaos that we wanted be in. Lovely room, very comfortable and clean . Great restaurants and tavernas nearby,, just a great location

+: Monique and Nikoletta in reception were the best thing at this hotel.The bedroom we moved to from the 2nd night was ok and the bed quite comfortable.The pool though small was nice and enjoyed from about 6.30 pm when there was shade (the hotel does not own parasols).
-: We had a confirmation from booking.com for a double with pool view but the hotel had allocated room 104 which is a room with street wiew. A small room with the smallest balcony.We may have put up with it had we booked just one night but it was totally inadequate accommodation for 2 seniors for a 7 nights stay.We phoned Booking.com customer service twice but had no answer.The manager of the hotel advised that the mistake was by booking.com and so would not refund us if we cancelled or curtailed our stay.In any case, we could not find any availability elsewhere so we were stuck with whatever the could arrange for us.Nikoletta at reception, offered a 'penthouse room' with a hot tub in the terrace, room 400, from the 2nd night at a supplement of course.We accepted so we could make the best of our stay in AghiosThe room was fine and the bathroom ok.The shower was large but we could only use the hand shower as the ceiling one was full of limescale and did not run properly.The terrace and hot tub were unusable during the day because there was no shade at all and the water in the tub was boiling.We mentioned it to the manager who suggested we wait until the evening in order to enjoy the terrace and with a bit of luck the water would have cooled down by then.The hotel is 'pretentious'. Not all that shines is gold! There is an obvious lack of maintenance (the metal folding table on the balcony in room 104 was coming off the wall and there was black mould in the shower in room 400).From reactions by certain members of staff (Dimitri, the manager and the maintenance man to be exact) it may be that they are understaffed and it results in their lack of 'enthusiasm'.I sent a complaint to Booking.com requesting an explanation about the mix up with the room type and I received 2 short replies, one after the other.The first said they had not received a complaint and the 2nd said the hotel would not compensate.
