+: View was amazing, rooms were very clean, food was nice. Hotel also had some free activities, which was nice. But the best thing about this hotel is their staff. Super helpful and friendly. One of the best staff I've seen in hotels, they made us feel very special and welcomed.

-: The property renovations showed how disrespectful management was to garden bungalow villas that were right next to the building works. On one particular afternoon the builders were using a rotary hammer drill for 4 hours non stop. These villas, 201, 202, 203 & 205 should not have been used but left vacant while building renovations were happening. Requests to staff to ask the builders not to make noise at 7.30am was never actioned. They just hammered on. One morning one of the builder was actually spitting over the fence.. disgusting. Management should inform guests that there will be renovations happening on the web site, so we can decide on whether to stay or book elsewhere. Very deceptive behaviour from management. Even small thing inside the villa where not acceptable; the wall safe in the cupboard wasn’t even bolted to the wall. Why even have a wall safe? One of the barmen couldn’t mix a cocktail to save his life and if you ask him to remake he’s rather impertinent and never remade the drink. Paying extra for half board was a waste of money. They have a special menu for half board paying guests and some of the items were inedible. A cook who can’t cook a poached egg should not be a breakfast cook. We only booked for three nights and we couldn’t leave fast enough. Not happy Nirwana Beach Resort.

-: Rock hard bed actually made my back very sore (I’m only 27), couldn’t make it softer. Food n drink prices very high, bbq night was a rip off with massacred meat. Lobby renovations going on at the moment so some loudness during day, not good when a resort like this is designed to be a stay at accom style. Shuttle service highlighted as a feature, it’s actually a paid feature or they organise a taxi. Offers room service but no menu in the room Heads up their tax and service fees 21% on top of everything in restaurant. Laundry service mentioned as a feature, they actually charge per piece of clothing not per kg, our small laundry amount almost 200k vs a local laundry 50k, it all adds up very fast.

+: The Nirwana exceeded our expectations from the minute we arrived. The staff were very attentive to our every need. The rooms were well appointed and had a luxurious feel. The view was stunning and ever changing with the boats coming and going. The pool area was beautiful and a place to just sit and relax for the day. $3 for a ride to town if you wanted to leave the resort. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer. Being a smaller resort with 18 bungalows the bungalows sit in a beautiful garden or sea view setting giving lots of individual space.

+: Secluded in a quiet corner of Candidasa bay, this waterfront hotel boast the kindest, most welcoming and professional staff you will ever experience in any hotel stay. In addition to complementary chauffeur to Virgin Beach and to spectacular snorkeling in the local bay via a local fishing boat, you may also enjoy free yoga in the garden overlooking the sea and delicious a la carte breakfast options. The mattress is perfect, so you will sleep like a baby, and the relaxing, unpretentious atmosphere by the swimming pool is ideal for reading and resting. The location is perfect for day trips, and I recommend tours 4 and 15 booked at the reception (skip Gate of Heaven, which is a total tourist trap) to learn about Balinese culture and to visit beautiful temples, palaces and traditional villages. Balinese food is delicious, so make sure enjoy all options available at this hotel, but seafood Sate and the Balinese barbecue combo for 2 is as mouthwatering as are all fresh fruit juices. This hotel is also the best value for your money you will find in Bali, but if you do not trust me, do your research, and let me know if I am wrong later. The hotel looks better than in the photos, the landscape garden is elegant and dotted with unique and beautiful plants, and the staff is incredibly attentive, constantly catering to all needs. The room comes with an electronic mosquito repellent and nets, toiletries and comfortable pillows for all demands.
