Coral Sands Hotel is on Hikkaduwa Beach, right across from the Marine Park. It offers 2 swimming pools, free parking and free Wi-Fi access. Rooms at the hotel all offer great views of the Indian Ocean.

Air-conditioned guest rooms include an attached balcony. The private bathroom has toiletries and hot shower facilities. Some rooms also have a safe and a minibar.

+: We got upgraded to a room with a balcony which was great although the other room we booked appeared nice as well. The pool was nice (two of them). We were there when it was very quiet out of season so very relaxing and no issues with sunbeds etc. We ate at the restaurant 2 out of 3 nights, the mealsstaff were very good. Location was right on the main road in the middle of town so a short walk anywhere and easy access to the beach.

-: Nothing really. The fencewall next to our balcony collapsed whilst the gardener was walking plants next to it but these things happen.

+: The swimming pool was very big and spacious. The breakfast and dinner buffet were good as well.

-: Unexpected extra 120 USD charged by hotel for children (not quoted on booking.com). Decor in the rooms was dated.
