Tours and prices for holidays at the hotel Queens 3* 2024-2025 Sri Lanka, Kandy

+: We came for the history & atmosphere which it is full of. The maintenance needs attention but overall an enjoyable stay. When we had an air conditioner problem we were quickly upgraded to a much nicer room.The staff were very courteous & helpful especially the gentleman at reception who is a great fan of Gardening Australia which I have watched for years also the restaurant staff were very attentive. If you like everything pristine & perfect you should stay elsewhere but for character & atmosphere Queens Hotel provides an interesting stay.

+: Beautiful old hotel with loads of character in the heart of Kandy.The rooms are huge and more than enough space for two, and check inout was easy.Staff are very friendly.

+: If you care more about beautiful hardwood floors and different antique furniture in each room than whether or not the shampoo bottles are squeezable enough, read on. I always feel pretty defensive about characterful hotels like this one that receive lukewarm write-ups because they've faded a little. Or, worse still, because travellers expect obsequious treatment. Personally, I found all the staff obliging and friendly. Yes, there's a shabbiness to certain areas like the pool changing rooms, but you're not paying anything close to a five star international hotel price to stay in this fantastic heritage establishment right on the side of the lake. A Shangri-La or Hilton could only dream of looking this good in a hundred years' time.

+: The location of the hotel is exceptional! It is located just opposite the entrance of the Sri Dalada Temple (Sacred Tooth Temple) and next to the Kandy Lake. The buffet breakfast was good. The hotel has a nice swimming pool.

-: When we wanted to check in (in the late morning), the receptionist told us that the hotel had experienced some problems (damages on one of the floors) due to water. He suggested that we would be transferred to another (a sister) hotel. We suspected that this was only a pretext (probably to have more rooms for a group...), we refused because we had chosen this hotel inter alia because of its exceptional location. Then we were told we would have to wait and would not be able to check in before 3 pm. This was, however, ok for us. Then, at around 1 pm, we were told that we could checkin. We paid in USD cash. The cashier took our banknotes and went to his cash register. Some minutes later, he returned and said we had given him a banknote that was not acceptable due a colour spot. However, knowing the problem of only "pristine" banknotes being accepted, we had checked and taken with us only banknotes in excellent conditions. Thus, this banknote could not have been ours! There was then quite some unpleasant arguing... After some time, and as we refused to take this banknote back, hotel staff accepted the said banknote and we could check in. This was a very unpleasant experience which led us to take photos of each of our banknotes (proof of numbers!!) for the rest ofour stay in Sri Lanka!

+: Nothing went well, and the worst was the front office Manager. Nothing short of unprofessional. His name is Mahesh Dissanayake or Hashan Dissanayake.

-: First it took more than 40 minute to check in while there was no wait and we arrived at 8pm and check in was available from 2pm. Room given was not the one booked Room was far to be a studio size , bathroom was disgusting and I had water leaks from the ceiling all night No Reimbursement No compensation Worst Guest treatment I have received in 15 years travelling
