The Shakespeare Hotel was founded in the 17th century building, which was once the home of a noble family. In this noble house were held literary evenings, where they read new works of famous authors of those times. According to sources, the works of William Shakespeare were known in Lithuania at the beginning of the 17th century. During the reign of Zigmantas Vazi, at that time of the Lithuanian-Polish Republic, a group of “English comedians” was on tour, the repertoire of which included some works by this great author. Later, the building belonged to the House of printing books and other publications.
