Velassaru Maldives offers luxurious beachfront and over-water accommodations with uninterrupted ocean views. It features a wide range of water and adventure sports, as well as sunset cruises and yoga classes.
Guests can enjoy relaxing spa treatments in over-water pavilions, or hop on a Maldivian boat and watch the crew demonstrate traditional fishing methods. Featuring wooden ceilings and floors for a tropical atmosphere, the bungalows and villas at Velassaru have air conditioning and ceiling fans. The private bathroom comes with L'Occitane bath products, beach bags and slippers.
A wide variety of international specialties are prepared at Velassaru’s 5 restaurants, including fresh contemporary sea food, Japanese, international and grill pan Indian options. The 2 beach bars serve cocktails and wines. In-villa or private island dining can also be arranged.

-: I didn't like the property and I would not recommend staying there. The air conditioning unit was so loud that it made the room vibrate and created a lot of noise. When I brought this up to the reception, they did not react and were not apologetic about the issue. The room was far from the main area, and they didn't have any transportation options like bicycles or buggies. Additionally, the room was old and not renovated, so it wasn't worth the money.

+: This is a small private exclusive island inMaldives 25 mins boat ride from Airport. Boat is the only way to get here.Once there...the island is impeccable, spot less resort, excellent service and care.Twice daily room serivceFood is impressive.from the point of arrival at the airport, everything is looked after.Crystal clear water, swimming in the sea, pool, snorkeling ,yoga, tennis, gym.. list goes on...5.restuarants if you are not taking all inclusivefull board.

+: Tudo!! Foi tudo perfeito. A comida é óptima, os funcionários são super simpáticos (em especial a Riya, que foi um raio de luz). Todas as instalações estavam em boas condições e têm imensas atividades disponíveis para os hóspedes. Ficámos numa “water villa” e adorámos. Fizemos ainda duas excursões com o hotel “swimming with sharks” e “sunset fishing” que também gostámos muito.

+: The resort itself is pleasant. Velassaru is a small intimate island - you can walk around it in about 15 minutes. We stayed in a pool beach villa and the room was lovely - great bathroom, nice bath linen and toiletries. The island infrastructure is tasteful, and everything is well maintained. Apparently, it was at about 80% occupancy when we were there, but it still felt quiet and private.
-: A few frustrations... I chose the island because we were travelling out of season (August) so I wanted an Island that would be accessible regardless of weather conditions. Turns out Velassaru isn't. Obviously, the resort isn't responsible for the weather but be aware that Velassaru sits across from a deep-water channel. On the afternoon we arrived there was wind and rough sea, so we had to stay on their sister island Karumba for the first night. Karumba really isn't up to the same standards as Velassaru so the first night was disappointing. In fairness to Velassaru they did refund the difference in room rates. Another point to note is despite the island having its own reef - it's pretty exposed. For most of the time we were there the beach was red flagged. We still snorkeled most days but where the reef (and best snorkeling) is there's a very strong current and the sea gets a little rough! Lastly - there was construction work going on while we were there. Several of the villas are undergoing renevation . One morning we were woken by a disc saw at 7.30am and later that day a JCB rolled past us on the beach. Again, to be fair, when we complained they stopped the work, but I do think it's poor form that they don't arrange this work better - just close off a small part of the island from guest and renovate one area at a time to minimize disruption.
