Ana y Jose Charming Hotel & Spa is on Tulum Beach, a 5-minute drive from Tulum’s ancient Maya ruins. It is on the edge of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve.

-: We got robbed by a hotel employee only 4 hours into our stay. She went into our room and stole all of our credit cards and cash from the SAFE. We left the very next day, when the hotel staff was unable to tell us what they were going to do to rectify the situation and kept saying they were “following protocol.” They claim to be refunding our money for our stay that we did not get to have, but we have yet to see the money.

+: Hotel very well looked after - amazing staff. Truly amazing and doing the best they can. They are very much “hands on”, in particular the concierge. A great number of staff, including security staff, always happy to help with a smile. Restaurant staff (Maria and Will) decorated my table for breakfast because they knew I was leaving. I was also surprised they clean the beach every morning! In addition, the property is beautiful. View from the room was really enjoyable.
-: The hotel gives access to the breach club to non hotel guests. This can be challenging because I have noticed those guests can drink a lot... and behave accordingly. My preference is for hotels where this is better restricted. Privacy is key at that level. I do not book a 5• hotel at 5• price to spend my extremely valuable time at the breach with whoever turns up. It was so lovely when I came to Ana y Jose 10 years ago and I am sad this has changed.
