+: The beach is beautiful, the bungalow is simple but very nice, located literally on the beach, with everything you need. Edy was always attentive to all our needs, he was very kind and helpful at all times. We had a great time!

+: The location is nice on the beach, even though it is not secluded in anyway since it lies on a camping site with many guests. Contact with Edy was easy and he is kind. We stayed in the ground level apartment which has a nice porch.
-: After 3 weeks of inland travel we were excited to stay at El Secreto but left disappointed. It lies on a camping site that also has apartments and at least in weekends seem to be very crowded with local guests setting up tents all around. A lot of people accessed the beach through a path in front of the porch so it didn’t feel that private. This didn’t bother us much but I think it is important to know. The gates at the site (up by the main road) is locked from 10pm to 8am. They state that it is locked after 10 pm in the info-letter (but not that it doesn’t open until 8). We missed a scheduled trip due to this, as the gate was locked when we wanted to leave at 7. It took 30 minutes to find someone (staff at the campsite is nowhere to be found) and when I did, he told me the “guy with the key” only came in at 8. I didn’t accept this since the gate was locked from the inside, so after constantly asking to please find or call the person, he walked to his trailer home, took the keys and drove up to open the gate. 50 minutes later. Clearly annoyed with us. I wrote to Edy but he didn’t reply until later, saying that I should have read the info and told them the day before. I agree that I obviously should have said something the day before, but the info letter does not state anything about when the gate are opened, only that you need to say if you arrive later than 10pm. It became an issue for us but it doesn’t have to be for others. However, we did not like the idea of being locked in and not being able to find the person who has the key. In general the camping site and their staff were not very friendly.A point for the owners to consider is that when we sat on the terrace, sand falls from the balcony upstairs down in to your food and plates. It’s manageable but also a bit annoying.Facilities are a bit outdated, but not too bad at all.We had strong winds during our stay, and relative strong currents so beware with kids snorkelling (not hotels fault obviously).

+: Location is definitely unbeatable; right on the beach with a huge terrace and big glass facade that doesn’t block the sea view. And the laid back authentic vibe is a great plus if that’s what you’re after.
-: It took a while to get used to having to shower (and everything else) with salty water but it’s ok and a few things need a little maintenance which is also understandable as with the salty sea wind corrosion is inescapable.

+: We stayed in the bungalow closest to the beach. It was exactly as I imagined it when I was making the reservation. It is literally on the beach - we were not even putting sun beds on the beach, we were just staying on the terrace and just walking down to when we wanted to swim. In the morning we could watch the sunrise without leaving our bed. Bungalow is also well equipped - everything for cooking plus even some additional essentials such as coffee, sugar, cooking oil etc.It was clean, bed was hard but surprisingly comfortable. We could listen to the waves entire day and night.Bungalow is on public beach, no need to pay anything to any beach clubs. The beach is lovely, and not crowded. Hosts allowed us to checked out late without any extra charge which was great, because our flight was in the evening and effectively we could enjoy sun and beach one day longer. Before arrival we also received lots of practical information about checking, restaurants and a grocery store. I found it very useful.Overall all amazing and so romantic experience!
-: The place is wonderful but not perfect, and therefore I give it 9 out of 10. We arrived late in the evening because our flight was delayed, and the gate was locked and nobody was picking up the phone. We were lucky that some boys from another property sharing the road were passing by and helped with getting the key to the gate. All ended up well but was stressful. If you stay here, try to get onsite before 10pm, even if you announce late arrival.Overall response rate and speed in case of issues was not excellent. Fortunately, we didn’t have any other major „adventures” which required immediate assistance.During our 5 days-long stay the beach was cleaned only once. Was not big issue during our stay but could during stormy weather. The local staff arrived only once, on our last day. It was not a problem but I was under impression that it they were supposed to arrive on our first day and give us beach umbrellas.
