+: This is a very beautiful hotel. I don’t think I have ever seen a glass ceiling as magnificent in a hotel. The beds are comfortable. And the bell staff are exceptionally attentive- five star attentive.
-: This was the loudest most annoying experience I have ever had a hotel. TripAdvisor won’t let me post video but if I could you would be stunned. For two full days we were met with loud and aggressive non-stop construction noise starting about 9:30 am and on one day continuing to 6:00 pm. Hammering. Sawing. It was brutal. Literally non-stop.To add pain to pain, outside on the street adjacent to the hotel there is a woman with a giant concert amplifier who absolutely can’t sing but who belted out one explosion loud song after the other for hours on end. It was so loud it filled the entire lobby and open-air atrium of the hotel up all 4 floors coming in through the open door AND came into our room through the closed windows also. So literally this torture came in from both sides of our room - the windows on one side and the door on the other. On the day I arrived after a long flight I arrived at 12:30 pm and check in is at 3:00. My room was not ready but I desperately wanted to sleep. The desk said they would work to get to ready quickly and would let me know when it was. Flash forward- it wasn’t even ready by 3;00 pm. regular check in time. Then when I finally got the room about 3:20, sleep was impossible with the crushing noise for hours coming from all directions from both sources. This isn’t a quiet place to start with. It’s immediately adjacent to the public square that abuts the Presidential Palace so the area is busy and loud always, and worse when there are protests, which is non-stop I’m told by police. The day I arrived it took me two hours to get here from the airport due to more than a dozen streets closed for protests. There is also constant noise from the street from performers and of course the idiots with megaphones that Mexico tolerates unlike other countries. All this made it loud enough to begin with. So…there definitely was not a need for more.I complained to management. They gave us a free breakfast on our last day …that’s it.
