One of our top picks in Chichén-Itzá – and a guest favorite.

+: This is a one-hundred-year-old hotel and it's stunning! The grounds are beautiful! The staff was helpful and it's less than 10 minutes from the fabled ruins of Chichen-Itza. The Room has AC a lovely balcony and a HUGE jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The shower is spacious and modern and there was always warm water. There was a coffee machine for early coffee on the balcony. Very spacious and clean room. You have to ask for it, but the hotel had a free shuttle to and from Chich-Itza
-: Well, keeping in mind that we were told that the hotel has been sold, I do hope the new owners will address some of the following: The two beds were a "double" not queen size with is something that most Americans prefer, so my husband and I couldn't sleep together and the mattresses were old. The pillows were old and lumpy. There should be a suitcase stand for luggage ... part convenience and partly to keep bugs from climbing into suitcases. In my opinion, guests should be given an info sheet about tours for Chichin-Itza, and tell guests that the hotel provides a shuttle to and from the hotel to the ruins at NO charge. Also the hotel handout should include info for getting PCR testing at the hotel. The staff did give us a map of the grounds, which included a Chocolate shop that we found only when we walked the grounds. Inside it had chocolate to buy and some really beautiful copies of Mayan Pottery. The prices were reasonable and I bought a piece that I will cherish. There is a planetarium, for which they charge, but IMO it should be FREE as part of an introduction to Chichen-Itz. Also, the restaurant was beautiful but the food was not! I would hope that the new owners would hire a talented chef for this luxury hotel, There are no restaurants at Chichen-Itza, and the only other option is in the local village. a. More could be done here to improve visitor participation to this wonderful site.
