Built in 1860 for Princess Kholle, this central Stone Town hotel is a minutes’ walk from Zanzibar Ferry Terminal. It offers luxurious rooms, an outdoor pool and rooftop terrace with a Swahili-style tea house and Indian Ocean views.
Air-conditioning, a ceiling fan and mosquito net are provided in all rooms at Kholle House. Each is individually decorated with exposed wooden beams, bright colors and antique furnishings.
Guests can enjoy a daily breakfast, as well as meals and beverages throughout the day at Kholle House. It also has a reading room and a garden with a conservatory. Wi-Fi is free available throughout the property.
The hotel organizes an important range of indoor services such as massages in our spa room, live band swahili dinners happening in the tea house on the roof top and outdoor activities including visits to Stone town and Spice plantations.

+: beautiful hotel with authentic vibes. very good location.
-: the neighborhood is very noisy all day and night (because of the mosque nearby). the staff and orders in the restaurant were so slow. we had a single bed in our room that wasn’t comfortable at allll. weak wifi in our room.

+: Amazingly restored and decorated property in a historical building closely located next to the heart of Stone Town. Also, the staff was hands down some of the kindest, most helpful staff I’ve encountered in any hotel in recent memory. They helped me to feel right at home.
-: Absolutely nothing.

+: The staff were extremely welcoming and took time to tell us about the history of the building and its renovation. The property itself is a beautiful building filled with lots of colour, texture and beautiful furniture. The pool and gardens are clean and relaxing and well maintained. I loved sitting out in the garden to eat after a swim in the pool in the middle of the city. The food was simple and delicious. Breakfast favourite was the fruit and yoghurt with honey. I had the best night’s sleep. We had a small balcony that overlooked the gardens and pool where you could relax and read or just enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds. There is a rooftop terrace too with nice views and relaxed atmosphere. It’s close to the port and the food market, about a three minute walk. The tours are very reasonable prices. The staff can’t do enough for you. It was amazing, thank you Khoelle House
-: Nothing to not like
