Overlooking the Indian Ocean, Matemwe Retreat offers spacious villas with a private sun terrace, a plunge pool, and free Wi-Fi. Water sports facilities like diving, snorkeling, and canoeing are available on site.
Each of the air-conditioned villas has a cocktail bar and space for private dining. All villas offer a spacious bathroom with double basins, a shower, and a large bathtub with views of the Indian Ocean.
Guests can start their day with a rich breakfast in the privacy of their room. The property’s restaurant serves local dishes, and packed lunches are also provided.
Enjoying a privileged location north of Matemwe, the villas border with a small fishing village where local fisherman set out on a daily basis in their traditional dhows.
Day-trips can be arranged to the historic center of Stone Town, Jozani Forest or Prison Island. Kisauni Airport is 25 mi away.

+: All the experience has been like a dream from the start until the end. You made us live an unforgettable honeymoon which will be part of our most precious memories. Thank you for the romantic gestures such as the bath and the romantic dinner by the beach. Our butler Thadeo has been very attentive to all our requests and he surprised us with his kindness, professionalism and attention to details. One day we mentioned that we liked the hibiscus flower of the garden and when we arrived at the villa he had prepared for us a bubble bath with hibiscus flowers. He also organized a romantic dinner by the beach with a very special decoration. He made us feel very welcome in the villa which has been our home for 5 days and we were always happy to see him every time he was coming over. Prisca’s food is tasty, original and fresh! She does magic in her kitchen and always came with her best smile for us. Going in the evening to the bar has been so nice thanks to Kichele, a very professional and friendly person highly skilled at doing cocktails.
-: The massage therapist should pay more attention to the requests of the clients regarding sensitive parts of the body which can be painful.

+: Everything about Matemwe Retreat is sublime, from the thoughtful customer service to the stunning rooftop pool with the incredible views over the ocean. The hotel has many pools, all of which are beautiful and an amazing bar where you can play the local board game Bao and feed bush babies as they come down for sunset snacks. We were on our honeymoon so the hotel sweetly gave us lots of extra treats and surprises and we felt very spoiled and welcomed for the entire stay.
-: The only thing that was a little bit disappointing was some of the food, which was a little overcooked at times or bland and lacking spices, though on the whole any local cuisine or seafood dishes were good.

-: كثره الحشرات عدم توفر دش ارضي للغسيل وماء الصنبور مالح وجود فئران وحيوانات ليليه ومزعجة لا تنظف ولا اهتمام للمكان فتحات الابواب الاكل مقبول الموظفين جيدين وبشوشين السبا المكان غيز نظيف المكان والمناشف بها رائحة ومبالغ دورين نعم لكن ليس ارضي المحارم سئه والماء في الثلاجة بدون غطاء المكان مجرد منظر فقط
