Right on a white sandy beach with a coral reef, Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort has tropical gardens with 4 outdoor pools and water-sports facilities. Guests can also relax with a massage at the Spa.
The Resort features modern-Zanzibar design and all rooms have a large bed surrounded by a mosquito net and a large balcony. The private bathrooms contain a bathtub and shower and are stocked with free toiletries.
Each of the 2 restaurants serves a variety of cuisine, ranging from an international breakfast at Spices to fresh, local seafood at Samaki. Coco Bar provides light meals and beverages during the day.
There is a game room with darts and ping-pong, or guests can work out at the gym.
On the north coast of Zanzibar, Royal Beach Resort is a 60-minute drive from Stone Town and 59.5 km from the Zanzibar International Airport.

+: The staff are the best part about the resort, they are so friendly and helpful.
-: Not a 5 star hotel. The towels which they give you at the beach have stains on them, smell and are dirty. I had to go through all the towels to try and find a semi clean one. Cleanliness is critical when you are staying at a hotel, made me feel sick even siting on them. Food was so disappointing, to the point that we researched restaurants outside of the hotel. Bed sheets was not changed daily, I had to call the front desk at least 3 times to tell them to change the sheets. Toiletries were not given daily. Towels in the bathroom smelt of damp, and they were old worn out towels. Overall if you like 5 star hotels, do not stay at this one. The only good thing about the hotel was the staff (they were lovely).

+: The environment, the food, the attention to detail of all the staff to ensure all was going well. Totally pleased with the surprising dinner set up on our last day as they were completely booked for a party during our 4 day stay.
-: Curtain in the bedroom were off the hooks so not able to close it completely. Front desk staff on the day of arrival insisting on upgrading is and wanted us to see the upgraded room. Guests are too tired to deal with this on their day of arrival. Suggest show pictures if you want but no haggling us in the first day.

-: Title: Disappointing Experience at Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort in Nungwi, Tanzania. Royal ZanzibarI recently stayed at Royal Zanzibar, and unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. The hotel boasts a stunning location on the beach, but its charm ends there.Upon arrival from another 5 star resort, I was disheartened by the state of the rooms. They were terribly dirty and outdated, which significantly impacted my comfort during the stay. The lack of maintenance was evident, and it detracted from the overall ambiance of the hotel. However, amidst the disappointing accommodations, the local employees stood out. Despite poor employment conditions, they demonstrated exceptional hospitality and warmth, making the experience bearable. Their dedication to providing great customer service was evident throughout my stay. The food service was okay, nothing extraordinary, but it met basic expectations. However, the same cannot be said for room service, which was subpar. Orders were often delayed or unavailable, the shower was salt water, the minibar was dirty and only filled with two bottles of water, adding to the frustrations of an already disappointing stay. Moreover, the entertainment services left much to be desired. There was a noticeable lack of variety and quality, failing to engage guests effectively.Despite these shortcomings, the beach was undoubtedly the highlight of the property. The pristine shoreline and breathtaking views offered a temporary escape from the hotel's shortcomings. In conclusion, while Royal Zanzibar may have its strengths, including its great local employees and beautiful beachfront location, the overall experience was marred by its terrible, dirty, and outdated rooms, poor room service, and lackluster entertainment offerings. It's a place with immense potential, but significant improvements are needed to live up to its royal name and 5 star rating!
