The story tells of a prince who came to the foothills of the Annamalai mountains in Kerala around the 10th century AD. The prince suffered from skin disease and came here to heal with the help of local healing waters and the wenge medicinal tree growing here in abundance. The building in which the hotel is located now was built in the 19th century.
