-: I have been using Booking.com for nearly ten years, and this is my first negative review. It is also the first time I have been threatened with police involvement, and that threat came from the hotel manager, Khun Keng.I was extremely dissatisfied with the service at this hotel. When I mentioned that I would be recording my complaint, I emphasized at least three times that I needed to record the conversation. After I began recording, hotel staff were present and did not intervene. Two minutes later, Khun Keng asked, “Are you recording? If so, I will call the police.”I was shocked. First, I am not aware of any laws in Thailand that deem it illegal to record a work-related conversation in a hotel, especially when I had informed them and no one objected. Second, if it is indeed illegal, why did no staff member stop me? This raises concerns about whether I was being set up or if this reflects discrimination against foreigners.I was both astonished and furious; I never expected such treatment in a hotel service. To clarify why I felt the need to record: I wanted to request a late check-out and offered to pay extra, but my request was denied with the excuse that the hotel was fully booked. However, I later discovered that there were available rooms listed on the website. When I asked for clarification at the front desk, I was simply told to book directly. Frustrated, I ended up booking the same room for an entire night, even though I only needed a few extra hours. I did this because I was exhausted and just wanted to rest.Despite my situation, the hotel insisted that I change rooms. I didn't understand the reasoning behind this, but it felt as though the staff didn’t care. They repeatedly interrupted me, refusing to let me finish my explanation before saying no, and I had to ask more than three times if they could let me finish speaking, but Khun Kengkept saying no and continued to interrupt me.
