One of the best choices made by us in the city of Bentota. The beach can be reached in just 2 minutes. Avani Bentota Resort & Spa is located on the beach of Bentota, in the south of Sri Lanka. The hotel recreates the atmosphere of a seaside Dutch village. This tropical and peaceful resort features 2 outdoor pools and free parking.
Avani Bentota Resort & Spa is 99 km from Bandaranaike International Airport and 66 km from Colombo.
The rooms of the designer hotel are decorated in a contemporary style. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen cable TV, a DVD player and a hot shower. The private balcony overlooks the natural landscape.
Guests can enjoy a relaxing massage at the spa, or play board games such as chess and carom. The beach has the opportunity to practice water sports such as diving and snorkeling. Hotel Avani Bentota has a laundry service and currency exchange.
The resort’s restaurant serves local and continental dishes. Drinks can be enjoyed at the bar and in the wine cellar.

+: Great location, good breakfast, helpful staff and good facilities I.e. gym, pool, spa etc.
-: Cleanliness can be improved, we sighted cockroaches on multiple occasions in the toilet. Also, rooms had a smell of mould probably due to poor ventilation

+: We had a great time. I came with my family including my grandmother of 80+ years and neice <1 year so we had a broad spectrum of ages with us. The hotel was beautiful, designed by Geoffrey Bawa. It was honestly a joy to just look around the way it had been designed and built.The location was also great. Just past the Bentota rail bridge. There are boat safaris of the nearby areas although we didn't try this. The hotel has direct access to the beach with multiple entrances and also has two pools.We spent quite some time in the pool. The water was warm and very comfortable. The service by the pool was great as well and we were able to order food and drinks to the deck chairs.Food overall was also great with no complaints from us. We didn't try the dinner or lunch buffet but ordered a la carte for dinner and lunch from the menu. Prices were reasonable and the food tasted lovely. It was sometimes difficult for my grandmother to walk to the restaurant so we would order food to the room and room service was wonderful. Overall this was a lovely experience at a great hotel, in terms of locstion, architecture, service and facilities. It's one I would highly recommend
-: One minor issue I had was that when calling reception, they would answer my question and then hang up the phone without checking if I had further queries. It was honestly a very minor issue and didn't impact the quality of my stay.

+: The location was amazing. It was right at the beach so we could see the sunset and sunrise. The property was really beautiful- great pools, nice gardens.

-: Der Blick aus dem Zimmer Richtung Meer ist leider durch ein Vordach „verbaut“ nicht wirklich schön. Das Hotel ist eher ein Resort und etwas kalt. Das Personal war etwas überfordert (aber immer durchweg sehr zuvorkommend) da wir nur 1 Stunde vorher gebucht hatten.
