+: The grounds were large with a lot to do, from caves to beach clubs. There was a wide variety of food at the restaurants and the employees were top tier. They even remembered our favourite cocktail orders from previous days. The room was kept spotless, with maintenance coming day and night. The breakfast was the best I’ve had at any restaurant.

-: I loved it all but it would’ve been easier to get around if the grounds were smaller.

+: The pool was very nice although would be good to have more than one for this size place. One of the best pools we’ve experienced

-: The food was mediocre. For the masses. No care or attention to detail and the ingredients were not up to par. Ever heard of real butter and chocolate? The rooms made little sense. We had a shower that was 6 meters long for no apparent reason. No good places to hang items . Poorly organized room in general but comfortable .

+: Breakfast was very good, big variety of bread and sweet options, the eggs, waffles and pancakes baked fresh were wonderful. Very good fresh fruit and yoghurt options as juices. We had breakfast at the level as being close and very calm in the morning. Peaceful to wake up with amazing sea- and poolview. Great coffee too with bar opposite being served at the table. Beach: lovely. Peaceful. Very clean. Very soft sand almost clay. Amazing view. Security keeps vendors at distant, can't approach guests except at close water. The water is HOT. The hotel has no charming sunset as in the North but def a lot more quiet. Some days it was low tide ( sometimes till 12 AM) and then you need to walk far to get into deeper water. But also charming to see Seastars, Seacucumbers, etc... you do need to watch careful to avoid Coral or Sea Urchins. Dinner was great, we loved the vibes and daily performances (local music) at the buffet restaurant Spices. Normally we never like buffets as too crowded but here we loved it. Barbecue and different food themes were good. Lunch at the beach restaurant had great vibes and view, cosy sit and food was good. Primitive, funny Flintstones gym on the beach which is a nice distraction for kidsyoung sportive people. Well equipped indoor gym. Amazing double beach Suite for 4. The view and interior is a dream. Good restaurants. Staff that made a lasting impression: Competent Neema at the Level breakfast, Cecilia at the poolLevel breakfast remembered your room, your preferences...always on top, sweet & smiling. Zulfa at the Gaby Bar, smiling and helpful. Habibu the caddy driver always happy and great singer! He put a smile on your face and brings you immediately in the Zanzibar happy mood. Abdul, the kind Chef at Spices, made us his best tailor made pasta. Daniel, highly competent Restaurant Manager. He sees it all. Clara, the French Intern and Isaac, the kind & charming Masai.

-: Breakfast: some days it felt like the food area was not cold enough preserved. Door of the breakfast space open all the time and areas like the cheese and salmon seemed like a risk. We did not dare to eat it for that reason. Maybe it might be safer to keep it cooled and serve on request. Two days I noticed ants walking through the bread and cake area. Spreading all over. This was not seen by the staff and as these spread out fast, I had to bring it to their attention. asking to remove it. Should be avoided. Same was on the tables. Some tables we had ants running over. We did not have that in any other restaurant during our stay but at Level breakfast a couple of times. Some staff are amazing and highly competent but some do not understand you and take your order at the beach ( not writing it down and not passing it on at all and you wait frustrated....We felt that some staff should better not take orders and should send somebody who can. Tiny detail but the chairs at the Level breakfastrestaurant are too deep and extra cushions should be placed to make you sit at decent table level. The hotel offers special Bali beds on the beach but decided to ask extra money for this. My daughter came in April, 3 years ago and then this was free of charge. Now; Asking a daily fee, including some lunch for 250 dollars! That is honestly a disgrace. It was not labeled on the beach and so many families got send off after 15 min. We noticed that these Bali-beds stayed empty 99% of the time. A missed chance to service your clients and offer extra beach beds. Level is all incl and should be superior in (beach)service. Instead of trying to make more money this way, we would advise to offer these half days or a day to each of your level guests. That makes the experience better for all and is service minded. Same with the local Tamu restaurant. We were told this is one of the Level Restaurant but ALL is charged here.
