Diamonds Mapenzi Beach Zanibar

+: We enjoyed our time at the Diamonds Mapenzi Beach Hotel, especially due to the beautiful location of our bungalow with a sea view, as well as the very friendly staff, who offered us coconuts and was always eager to help. The breakfast every morning was great and included a wide variety of options. Coffee was amazing. The bungalow offered a lot of space and we had some privacy on our porch and just in front of the bungalow. WiFi was very good.

-: We booked relatively last minute and might therefore have overpaid- unfortunately we therefore had higher expectations of the overall room, service as well as location, that were not met. Some of the fixtures of the room were outdated, water pressure was bad, and due to heavy rain we had one night a massive amount of flies and ants getting into the room despite closed windows. Electricity cuts were frequent. While we loved the friendliness of the staff, responsiveness was at times very delayed, specificity when we need someone urgently to come by and assist with the ant invasion (we waited 1.5 hours). We did not book all inclusive and therefore frequented the beach side restaurant almost every night, also due to a lack of alternatives nearby. Unfortunately the food selection was always very limited, and we often had to wait close to an hour for our food (both at lunch and dinner time). The staff was incredibly apologetic which we appreciated; but it would have been nice to have higher quality food and service in that restaurant. It is also worth mentioning that, while beautifully located with amazing views of the beach, the bungalows are not directly on the beach, which is slightly below the level the bungalows are located.

+: Friendly staff, wonderful food and themed evenings. The beach villas are located right on the beach with a lovely view

+: I liked that the beach was accessible and there is a large swimming pool. The breakfast included in the booking was buffet style and had a lot of variety. There were also activities such as aqua gym etc. The hotel also has turn down service which was great. The restaurant and chef at the beach restaurant were great.

-: We paid for a superior room but the room we got was quite basic. At first I thought there might have been a mistake but the hotel insisted that that was the room. Also at first service by the pool was not great e.g. had to wait a while for drinks. However, this was corrected and the hotel made up for it. The beds only had linen and we had to ask for a blanket or bedspread etc. The hotel did not get back to us with requested information before we travelled. If they had, we may have changed to an all inclusive package.

+: Les villas sur la plage sont fabuleuses: magnifique vue sur l'océan! Elles sont spacieuses et lumineuses. Le personnel est gentil et le buffet bien garni.

-: Nous aurions aimé plus de spécialités africaines aux buffets. La soirée africaine en propose mais ce n'est qu'une fois sur la semaine, c'est dommage. Lorsqu'on voyage loin, c'est dommage de manger occidental, "comme à la maison".

+: The location of the hotel is good, quiet and safe area. Hotel has good security measures applied. The accommodation was very good, clean and comfy. Quality of food was very good and they have wide selection of meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel staff was always there for us, super friendly and helpful.

-: Honestly I didn't find anything wrong or bothering me during the stay.

+: GREAT VIEW AND AMAZING STAFFS During our stay everything was perfect, the staff from all departments were so friendly and welcoming, the food and drinks was amazing, the service staff was amazing too Especially Marwa, Rachael, Tiem, Anna, Zainabu, Zabibu, Youssuph, Frank,…. Also the trainee Elastus, Hafidhu, sity, Kauthari etc all were amazing, those trainees they deserve to be one of the staffs members. We will absolutely come back soon
