+: This is very much budget accommodation, which is what I was expecting before I arrived. The pool is fantastic and very picturesque and a lot of the outdoor arears are pretty - very much the Santorini fantasy of royal blues and and whites, pink flowering vines and pomegranate trees. At the pool, you can get bar service, which people were enjoying a lot. They also play music - mainly 'golden oldies' - which gave the vacation a fun, nostalgic feel. People are allowed to bring their dogs to the hotel and I liked that there were a few dogs hanging around who were friendly. Accommodation is also very close to a bus stop which will take you to Thira, from which you can get to Oia. As well as this, there are a few convenience stores within walking distance from the hotel on the beach side, which is great for getting snacks and drinks for the room.
-: The hotel is very old and is sorely in need of upgrading. Our beds were very uncomfortable and the sheets were threadbare. I woke up with a bad back twice. The air conditioner did not work. The shower itself smelled like sewerage and we would open up all windows to try to air the smell, but it never left. The shower water is pure salt water and stung my eyes. You could feel your skin drying out from the shower and the salt water left your hair feeling tacky. The breakfast is pretty grim - hard boiled eggs, low quality yoghurt, packaged hard biscuits and little bits of ham. However, the view is very pretty from breakfast and their instant coffee does the trick. Their 'beach club' is on black volcanic sand and overlooks a beach which is very natural - lots of slippery rocks and stones, so would not necessarily recommend if traveling with small children. You can get food from the beach club - we did one lunch time - and I do not recommend it.
